Mist of Heaven
I was at a church. It was a big ol' traditional church. I was working on a project for someone. I was writing down peoples ideas of God on paper. The idea was to make a flower out of the paper and put it up on a bulletin board. It wasn't working though. First of all, all the ideas were written on white paper...some lined some not, some even used. Instead of folding them all pretty, they were just folded in half or even wadded up and stuck on the board. You couldn't even read most of them. Then it was time to start the service. They started singing a hymn and at first it was rather ordinary. But there was just something different. a couple of people started skipping. Then More. Then we were all holding hands in a giant circle side skipping around the auditorium. Then we danced, holding hands, out of the church and we were in a neighborhood. The Joy and prescience of the Lord was overwhelming. Then we stopped, because people we knew who had died were all of the sudden with us dancing. They began telling us how death is not to be feared. That Heaven is something we could never imagine. I noticed several people in the crowd I knew. Some were "dead" but I knew them not to actually be dead. They were however people I considered "the worst sinners." Again the prescience of the Lord was overwhelming. Suddenly a young man "one of the worst" pointed down the street and a mist/fog was rolling in across the houses. It was in the middle of summer, but suddenly a cool mist touched us. In the mist flakes like snow, but not cold, also fell on us. A sound filled the air, it was the sound of the people singing the hymn and a sound so overwhelming that I fell to my knees and began weeping and crying out "Holy, Holy, Holy! You are Holy God!". After a while the mist left and the crowed simply stood still for a while. The dead people were gone and then the crowd dispersed. A friend of mine was there, and I remembered she had to leave soon. We started discussing our responsibilities at the church and soon the whole experience was out of thoughts because we had so much to do to get ready for the things we had to do at church that night. It was almost like it was an inconvenience to have had the mist experience because now we had to rush to get the other stuff done and change all our plans.
